This is the first time I am blogging and I dedicate my first post to my li’l one Vito!
It was a lazy wednesday afternoon, in October, and I was in my favorite chair, in the back yard, the weather was perfect and I lit my Marlboro Red, gazing at nothing in particualr. I said to Punnu, “you know we have a great yard and all, the only thing that can liven it up is a lab retriever” and one hour later Punnu was on the phone making an appointment with some lady to look at a puppy she was selling. I told her, we were not going to bring a puppy home today, we were just looking for now, but deep within, I knew I would not wait any longer if I found the right one. Punnu was very excited and a little scared(Well little excited and very scared;) she may deny it if you ask her though π ) as thuis would be the first time, she would get this close to getting a puppy. It was a little after 8, and we made our way in to their house, and the moment I lifted my Puppy off the ground I knew he was it! Completed the paper work, and the lady asked me what we would name him. I had no idea, and definitely not enough time to even think! I mumbled Saathi, a hindi word, which means companion. Saathi was my first ever pet, a cute little Pom, she was a pefectly calm and composed dog, a real companion, an Ideal family dog. I knewthe moment I picked up my little lab, that this name would not work! We left the place, and my puppy who was jumping around his siblings and was all hyper in their home, freaked out, with a dull expression on his face, and was calm to the extent of making me wonder if I separated a little one from his family.
We went home, and Our Little Boy would not move, he found comfort only in my lap and did not want to get away, and stayed that way for 2 full days!! I had to feed him with food in my palm, and that was the only way I could make him eat!
It took me 2 days for me to figure a name for him, we started with Rufian, Milo and a whole lot of other names, before I got inspired by my favorite character Don Vito Corleone, The GodFather!!
I called him Vito, and I felt he responded, he liked that name π
Majesty in the name! Don Vito, that people is my 6 month old Labrador Retriever, all grace and elegance, and boy! do people fear him!!
